Science Education is really really important both for individuals and for the US. If our kids don't have STEM competence, we will continue to import foreign engineers who will eventually go home and start companies there. Worse, the Americans will continue to have difficulty finding jobs. As citizens, we will not be able to make smart decision since being STEM-challenged, we get confused on what's science and what's "belief." As it is, out country was too something (dumb? lazy?) to make the transition to the metric system. How does this look to the rest of the world when we are the only ones who can't change?
